We hope you will join us for a creative afternoon experience with artist Ali Herrmann to laugh, play, and make your own encaustic covered sketchbook keepsake. In this interdisciplinary workshop, Ali will briefly discuss the histories of encaustic painting and Coptic stitch binding, two ancient crafts that are still celebrated and in use today. She will  share her knowledge, experience,  tips & tricks in both mediums, while guiding you through some simple painting techniques to create one of kind paintings that will be turned into book covers. In addition to painting, you also learn the art of paper cutting, tearing and learn Coptic stitch, using just a wee bit of math. You will walk away from this workshop with your very own work of art sketchbook, a piece having both form and function, as well as written instructions and materials to create a mini journal at home, along with a special thank you goodie bag gift.

All materials are supplied for this one day workshop. The workshop starts at noon and ends at 5pm. We have a full day of fun and will work the whole afternoon, so please plan on eating beforehand; you may bring drinks/light snacks for a quick nibble. Coffee/tea will be offered.

Wearing comfortable shoes and non-precious clothes are highly recommended. Preregistration is required and spaces are limited to 8.

All work and no play makes for a tiresome afternoon, so after the workshop, we hope that you can stay for a social hour from 5-6 to relax in this intimate gallery space. Take some photos, admire our creations and get to know each other a bit further over some lite bites and a champagne toast. Ask Ali any questions you may have forgotten to ask during this time.
